Course description

During this workshop, staff will gain an understanding of the importance of sexuality for people living with dementia, and that the people they support do not lose their identity as sexual beings.

Through discussion, activities and case studies, participants will explore how sexuality is far more than physical sex, that it is about our perception of ourselves and the expression of individuality and sexuality through what we wear, through our creativity, and by other means including our senses such as scent, touch, or sight.

Participants will also learn ways to ethically support a person living with dementia to express their sexuality.
