Course Summary

The diagnosis of dementia is a complex process requiring specialist assessment. Some conditions present with similar symptoms to dementia, such as delirium and depression.

This workshop provides you with knowledge and skills in basic screening and assessment to identify potential causes of cognitive change and when you should refer a person for further diagnostic support.

On completion of this session you will be able to:
identify symptoms associated with cognitive change
understand the need and process for cognitive screening and assessment
understand tools used in screening and assessment
understand the overlap of symptoms between delirium, dementia and depression
identify when you need to refer to others for further investigation and support
reflect on current workplace screening and assessment practices
