Course Summary

This interactive workshop considers caring for people with cognitive impairment in acute, residential and community care. People with cognitive impairment  have difficulties with memory, thinking or communicating. This workshop explores the care and supervision required for the person living  with dementia and those that are at risk of developing delirium.

Attendees will:
understand the nature of dementia and its impact
identify risk factors which can lead to delirium
articulate a person-centred approach and dignity in care
learn various strategies for effective communication to better respond and engage with a person living with dementia
